Biography: 

“I am fortunate enough to be acquainted with some of the most talented, intellectual, creative, outgoing, compassionate, innovative, and kindest students. When I truly love something, the thought of it can bring on tears of happiness and that is exactly what this job does,” Jasmine said.

Jasmine grew up in Oakland and the San Francisco Bay area. While she’s still a fan of Golden State Warriors and the Oakland Raiders, she loves HSU and Humboldt because you can be yourself without the outside pressures of society. Growing up in her hometown materialism and aesthetics are used to determine one’s worth and social status. While, “at HSU you can embrace your differences and live peacefully without unrealistic standards of beauty, wealth, and social clout,” Jasmine said.

Jasmine earned her AA in Administration of Justice at Diablo Valley College and transfers to HSU to earn her BA in Criminology and Justice Studies. When she isn’t working, she’s cooking delicious savory dishes or baking up sweet treats. She also loves hiking, is a huge fan of old-school hip-hop music and science fiction movies.

Every day, Jasmine is able to help amazing students realize their potential by helping them see the greatness she sees in them. Her job as a Learning Specialist helps students develop their academic skills and help them earn the grades that they want.

She lives by Nelson Mandela’s words, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
