Edward Carpenter

Student Engagement Coordinator

Biography:

Edward is Humboldt, and Cal Poly Humboldt through and through.  As an enrolled member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe, Edward grew up with the guidance of family and tribal community on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation. Edward earned his degree at Cal Poly Humboldt in Communication with a minor in Journalism.

Edward is the EOP/SSS Student Engagement Coordinator and is dedicated to students and strives to be a support for EOP/SSS students.

“I hope to be the big brother that students seek support from in their endeavors. When they fall down, I’d like to be the one to pick them up, dust them off, check to see if they’re okay, and tell them to never give up and always keep on going.”

When he isn’t working to support students, Edward might be making original music on his personal computer or rewatching Star Wars or Lord of the Rings.

Edward knows being a student isn’t always easy, but he has some advice; “Some days, it will be hard to find motivation. In times of hardship, we must accumulate self-discipline. In the morning, the mindset you wake up with is the one you carry with you throughout your whole day. In the morning, it is important to look in the mirror and be your own best friend. That friend may not always be nice, but their honesty may help you get out of your own way, so that you can proactively strategize a way to rise above the challenge and become stronger and wiser throughout each stage of your life’s journey.”
